To qualify for the AIT Program, candidates must have a Bachelor\u2019s degree in any subject. You also have to be enrolled in and have completed at least 12 hours of long-term care classes at an accredited college. These course hours should cover a wide range of curriculum, including Resident Care, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, and several other areas listed by the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long-Term Care Administration Inc.<\/p>\n
Whether these courses are completed online, or in-person is up to you, as long as the college or university is accredited. For example, some of our AITs have found success with the virtual courses at McClennon Community College and some have preferred the classroom experience offered at Tarrant County College. Additionally, the state of Texas requires the completion of a 1,000-hour internship under a licensed preceptor, who must be the administrator on record for the facility where the intern hours are performed.
