Navigating the Path to Nursing Home Administration
Everything you Need to Know About our AIT Program
Long-term care administrators play an important role in ensuring the well-being and quality of life for residents in skilled nursing facilities. They are the leaders of their building and influence hundreds, if not thousands, of lives throughout their career. Administrators manage departments head, control finances, maintain policies, and ensure that their buildings provide the highest quality of care to their residents.
Becoming a healthcare administrator is more attainable than you may realize. At Creative Solutions in Healthcare, we understand the importance of and encourage career growth. We offer several different resources for career support to help our team step into their dream healthcare role. One of these resources is our Administrator-in-Training Program.
Our Administrator in Training Program
The Administrator in Training Program at Creative Solutions in Healthcare serves as a steppingstone for those aspiring to become a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator (LNFA). This program offers a structured curriculum and hands-on experience to prepare participants for their career as a Long-Term Care Administrator. Whether you are a recent graduate or simply considering the next step in your healthcare career, this program provides a supportive environment for growth and development.
Our Administrator in Training (AIT) program is designed to provide aspiring administrators with the skills, knowledge, and applied experience needed to excel in the field of healthcare administration.
What is Required to Join the AIT Program?
To qualify for the AIT Program, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject. You also have to be enrolled in and have completed at least 12 hours of long-term care classes at an accredited college. These course hours should cover a wide range of curriculum, including Resident Care, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, and several other areas listed by the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long-Term Care Administration Inc.
Whether these courses are completed online, or in-person is up to you, as long as the college or university is accredited. For example, some of our AITs have found success with the virtual courses at McClennon Community College and some have preferred the classroom experience offered at Tarrant County College. You can learn more about the programs offered by contacting the schools directly.
Additionally, the state of Texas requires the completion of a 1,000-hour internship under a licensed preceptor, who must be the administrator on record for the facility where the intern hours are performed. Our program offers you a space and a mentor to help you to fulfill this requirement. You can visit our Careers Page to find a list of preceptors within our Texas-wide network.
