Creative Solutions in Healthcare Promotes Mistan Schmidt to Divisional VP of Operations, South
Creative Solutions in Healthcare is proud to announce the promotion of Mistan Schmidt to Divisional Vice President of Operations for the newly created South Division. This promotion reflects both Mistan’s exceptional operational leadership and the continued growth of Creative across Texas
Auston Clanton, Chief Operating Officer, shared his congratulations saying, “Mistan’s success comes from her ability to develop people and build teams that achieve strong outcomes together. She leads with purpose, stays focused on the mission, and understands that long-term success comes from investing in people. We are proud to have her leading the South Division.”
Mistan’s career in long-term care began at the corporate level, where she served as Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of a 52-facility organization. During that time, she was encouraged to pursue the Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program, which would go on to shape the trajectory of her career. Transitioning into a facility-based role in admissions, she gained experience in marketing and Medicaid eligibility, building a strong foundation in the operational and financial realities of skilled nursing.
After earning her administrator license in 2014, Mistan accepted her first Administrator role at a 120-bed facility. There, she led a significant turnaround in occupancy, increasing census from 70 percent to consistently maintaining 90–95%. Her success led to a promotion to Senior Administrator, where she assisted with survey management & administrator development across multiple facilities.
In July of 2019, Mistan became the administrator at Twin Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Victoria, a 200-bed facility, where she continued to deliver strong operational and financial outcomes while building high-performing teams.
Mistan joined the Creative Solutions in Healthcare family when Twin Pines was acquired in 2022 with the “TAG 9” acquisition group. She played an important role in helping teams navigate the transition and align with the organization’s culture and expectations.
Just one year later in 2023, she was promoted to Area Director of Operations for Area 12. Since then, she has supported the onboarding and integration of newly acquired facilities while strengthening operational consistency across the region.
In addition to her operational accomplishments, Mistan has also remained actively engaged in efforts that support the entire LTC industry. She has participated in several legislative initiatives that resulted in favorable reimbursement outcomes for long-term care providers.
Mistan is known for her calm and decisive leadership during emergencies and brings significant experience in disaster management. She successfully coordinated the evacuation of a 120-bed facility during Hurricane Harvey and later led the evacuation of a 90-bed facility during Hurricane Beryl, ensuring the safety of residents and staff in both situations.
Despite her extensive accomplishments she shared, “The most rewarding part for me is seeing team members I’ve supported grow into their positions, thrive, and advance in their careers and make a positive impact in the residents’ lives that we serve.”
In her new role as Divisional Vice President of Operations, Mistan will oversee operations across the South Division, supporting facility leaders, strengthening operational performance, and helping guide continued growth across the region
When asked how she felt about the promotion, she said, “I am grateful and excited to step into this role in the newly created South Division. This opportunity is a reflection of the teams I’ve worked alongside and the results we’ve achieved together. I’m excited to step into a role where I can support multiple facilities and continue building a culture of excellence as we grow.”
